THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER




A new technologically-superior Soviet nuclear sub, the Red October, is
heading for the U.S. coast under the command of Captain Marko Ramius
(Connery). The American government thinks Ramius is planning to attack.
A lone CIA analyst (Baldwin) has a different idea: he thinks Ramius is
planning to defect, but he has only a few hours to find him and prove
it-because the entire Russian naval and air commands are trying to find
him, too. The hunt is on!

kat msia msih kurang lagi genre novel thriller-military nih hehe, yg byk pasal military pun genre autobiografi @ based on true story mcm limpahan darah di sungai semur (teks KOMSAS form 1), Kapten Hassan Wira Bangsa (teks wajib KOMSAS gak), malam berapi di kalabakan, dan beberapa lg terbitan DBP awal 90 an..

kat malaysia ni novel berkaitan cinta dan hiburan memang laku
satu lagi pasal korporat yang menjatuhkan sesama bangsa

Two pilots go against the rule book in a bid to win the war in Viet Nam Johnson) is a U.S. Navy pilot stationed aboard an aircraft carrier after the death of his one-time flying partner Morgan McPherson (Christopher Rich), who perished during a recent, ill-advised mission. Lt. Grafton, who has become cynical about the current state of military affairs, is convinced that if the war were left to the soldiers rather than the politicians overseeing the Pentagon, United States victory would be swift and assured. Grafton shares this opinion with Virgil Cole (Willem Dafoe), a supremely confident new pilot under his command, and together they commandeer an A-6 Bomber, known as The Intruder, for an unauthorized bombing raid against Hanoi. The city had been declared off-limits because it was believed that it would have a negative impact on the Paris peace talks, so the raid lands Grafton and Cole in hot water. However, when the talks break down, President Richard Nixon authorizes the pilots to lead a new strike against Hanoi with everything they've got.

Tom Clancy nama orang tu. Dia ni boleh dikatakan menjadi pakar rujukan berkenaan hal ketenteraan. Dia juga merupakan seorang penganalisis pertahanan. Nama dia ni dah jadi 'brand' dah untuk 'video game', cerita dan novel.

saya pun suka filem " Looking for pvt ryan" kerana dalam filem tu.. dia menunjukkan pada peringkat awal pendaratan di Normandy, bagaimana brutal dan ganasnya perang ini, dan bagaimana peluru tidak mengenal mangsa.
dan yang saya hormat pada penulis dan pengarah filem ini, bagaimana dia mamaparkan dalam peperangan dua2 pihak bertindak kejam dan melanggar 'geneva convention'. Contohnya bila dua askar german menyerah diri, kepada askar amerika, kedua-duanya di tembak mati.
yang paling dramatik ialah semasa pendaratan di normandy, dan juga pertahanan terakhir sebelum captain rangers tu terbunuh di tepi jambatan.

Saya cadangkan tengok filem bercorak sains fiksyen 'Final Countdown' terbitan tahun 80 an. Saya tengok citer ni dah lama dah kat TV2 masa sekolah menengah. Citer pasal Kapal USS Nimitz (kapal pengangkut pesawat) yang tersesat ke tahun 1941 selepas melalui ribut di Hawaii. Masa ni Jepun tengah berperang dengan Amerika. Seronok tengok F-14 Tomcat mempermainkan pesawat Zero milik Jepun.
Salah satu adegan yang menarik ialah apabila komander kapal memutuskan untuk menghalang serangan pesawat2 Jepun ke atas Pearl Harbour di mana sebilangan pegawai tidak bersetuju atas alasan akan mengubah sejarah yang telah terjadi.
Penamat citer pun best.
